Tom Sannicandro, JD, PhD, has been practicing law for more than 20 years. He has expertise in disability law, special education, commercial and business law, and estate planning. 

He has the lived experience as the father of an adult son with Down syndrome. He holds a Ph.D. in Social Policy from Brandeis University, where his focus was on transitions to adulthood for individuals with intellectual disabilities. His dissertation was: The Effect of Postsecondary Education on Employment and Income for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities, and has a number of articles dealing with transitions of students with intellectual disabilities. In addition, he has a number of reported cases in special education law, including Halima and Lincoln-Sudbury Public Schools – BSEA #03-3557 and  Marlborough PS BSEA #09-2610.
